Computational Pathology Research Scientist
As a Computational Pathology Research Scientist, you will push the frontier of what automated tissue analysis can do — and make sure those advances survive the journey from a paper to a validated clinical product.
You will formulate research questions alongside pathologists, design experiments on large multi-institutional cohorts, and publish work that strengthens both the field and our products. This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in the EU.
Responsibilities
- Define and run research programs in tissue morphology, biomarker quantification, and outcome prediction.
- Design rigorous studies with appropriate controls, statistics, and generalization checks across sites and scanners.
- Partner with engineering to translate promising methods into robust, deployable models.
- Publish in peer-reviewed venues and represent the company in the research community.
- Advocate for scientific rigor, reproducibility, and fairness in everything the team ships.
Required qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent research experience.
- Track record of published research in medical imaging, computer vision, or machine learning.
- Strong programming skills in Python and a deep-learning framework.
- Fluency with experimental design, statistics, and the failure modes of model evaluation.
- Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to clinical and engineering audiences.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with whole-slide imaging and digital pathology datasets.
- Familiarity with bias, fairness, and generalization in clinical AI.
- Experience collaborating with practicing pathologists on study design.
For this role, we are looking for curiosity, intellectual honesty, and a bias toward research that changes what clinicians can actually do at the microscope.
Our perks
Fully remote within the EU, flexible schedules, and open paid time off. We provide private health insurance, a dedicated research and conference budget, and equity for every team member.
Digital Pathology Solutions is an equal opportunity employer. We make reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, or any other category protected by applicable law.
Compensation
Base salary range between €65,000 - €90,000 EUR + equity + research budget.
