Full-Stack Engineer, Viewer Platform

As a Full-Stack Engineer on the Viewer Platform team, you build the interface pathologists live in — a fast, precise, gigapixel image viewer that turns model output into something a clinician can act on in seconds.

You will work across the stack: smooth tiled rendering in the browser, the services that stream image data, and the APIs that connect AI results to the viewer. This role is based out of our Sofia headquarters with flexible hybrid scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize a web-based whole-slide viewer for smooth navigation of gigapixel images.
• Develop backend services for tiling, streaming, and serving image and annotation data.
• Integrate AI model outputs into intuitive overlays, measurements, and review workflows.
• Own performance, accessibility, and reliability across the viewer experience.
• Collaborate with designers, pathologists, and ML engineers to ship features end to end.

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of professional full-stack experience shipping production web applications.
• Strong TypeScript and React skills, plus solid backend experience (Node.js, Python, or Go).
• Experience building performant, interactive UIs — bonus points for canvas, WebGL, or large-data rendering.
• Comfort designing and consuming REST or gRPC APIs.
• A product mindset: you care about how the work feels in a clinician's hands.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with medical imaging, mapping, or other large-image rendering domains.
• Familiarity with DICOM, whole-slide image formats, or tile servers.
• Experience with accessibility standards for complex applications.
